I hope you are doing AMAZING!!!
It's January and...
EVERYONE is setting resolutions and excited to crush their goals and make amazing changes in their lives.
First off that's great!!!
The amazing thing about resolutions is that often we look at areas in our lives we want to improve.
​
Since my job is to help women reach their health and fitness goals when you have the New Years Resolution motivation it makes my job that much easier...Right?
Not exactly...
​
The biggest issue I've noticed with New Years resolutions is that all or nothing mentality. Many times we didn't have a plan or we expected too much from ourselves too quickly and we give up at the tiniest slip up. Another case is when we hang on to that momentum and go as hard as possible until we're burned out by the end of January.
​
In both cases we beat ourselves up and give up which is exactly what I want to prepare you NOT to happen.​
​
On top of that resolutions tend to be something negative we think of our lives rather than adding in something good into our lives.
​
​Much of life is about perspective and mindset. So I want to focus on your mindset.
😮I want you to look at resolutions differently...in fact I don't even want to call the resolutions.
​
How about instead we set intentions for 2024!
​
If you have found resolutions to be effective for you, then by all means keep it up. For the vast majority that don't I would like to offer you a chance to try something else.
​
Let's go back to MINDSET here...
Intentions are something deeper than a resolution. It's actually less specific than a resolution.
​
For example...
Resolution: This year I'm going to strength train 4-5 days a week
Intention: This year I want to focus on getting stronger and build more muscle.
--
Resolution: This year I will not eat processed foods
Intention: This year I want eat healthier
--
Resolution: This year I'm going to learn to speak Italian
Intention: This year I'm going to make time for myself to learn new things.

I know what you're thinking...
When I talk about goal setting I always love for you to be very specific. But, that's not what we are doing here.
Once you set your intentions then you can focus on the goals that are driven by these intentions and help you make the changes you want to see.
​
Plus there are many ways to achieve the results you want.
​
Maybe living a healthier life for you means getting more sleep or better quality sleep so that you have time to prep your meals and not reach for as much processed foods. Or maybe it means not keeping certain foods in the house.
​
That's why setting an intention like living a healthier life gives you more ways to make the changes you want to see rather than beating yourself up when you don't do the one thing you demanded of yourself.
​
​I mean hey if New Years Resolutions haven't really worked for you it's worth a try right?​
​
